IOTAJesse Pierre Leger, Jr. entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 20, 2010. The Lord blessed this earth with his birth on June 13th, 1931 in Freeport, Texas and soon after moved to Iota, Louisiana. He was married to his soul mate and beloved wife, Cama Lee Rita Hebert Leger in a double wedding ceremony in 1950 along side Joanna Leger and James Seilhan. More than three decades of his life were spent in Port Sulphur, Louisiana where he and his dearest established a strong family unit by raising nine children all while he maintained employment in Port Sulphur at Freeport Sulphur Co. and retired after 39 years. His lifes journey then brought him and his family back to Iota where he continued to care for his family with his gentle temperament, humor and wisdom. Jesse was always soft spoken with kind words and earned the respect of all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Germaine Pousson and Jesse P. Leger, Sr his wife, Cama Lee Rita Hebert Leger his sister, Jeannette Leger Courville and one great grandchild Joshua Kaleb Leger.
Jesse leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted and loving sister Joanna Leger Seilhan his adoring children, Judith and Larry Romero, David and Winnie Leger, Catherine and Steve Bartet, Cheryl Leger, Jacqueline Leger, Germaine Leger and Julia Weiner, Dwayne Leger, Matthew Leger and Michael Leger twenty six grandchildren, twenty nine greatgrandchildren and one greatgreatgrandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, June 23rd at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota with burial to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery with Father Mikel Polson. The family request that visiting hours be observed on June 22nd at Ardoins Funeral Home in Iota from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Wednesday, June 23rd from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Tuesday evening.
