Funeral Services will be held, Tuesday, November 10th, at 1 p.m. for Jesse Anthony Breaux, Sr., 80, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Eunice, who passed away peacefully Friday, November 6th, 2009 surrounded by his children.
Visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, November 9th with a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, November 10th from 10 a.m. until services. Entombment to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eunice, Louisiana.
Jesse was born to Dassas and Estelle Mouton Breaux on April 18th, 1929. He graduated from Loreauville High School. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the Air Force. He was one of three men on the base to receive the Distinguished Airman Award.
Jesse was active in the Eunice community. He served on the Parish Council at St. Anthony Catholic Church where he served as one of the first Eucharistic ministers. He was on the School Board at St. Edmund School and also served as the Blue Jays football team photographer for many years. He was a member of the Eunice Jaycees, Kiwanis Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Serra Club for priestly vocation. Jesse proudly served as the photographer for the Cursillo Movement where he was spoken of as a legend there for many decades.
Jesse opened Breauxs Studios in Eunice in 1955 and was in business for over 50 years. His love of photography was his passion and his kind nature was reflected in all his work.
Jesse was the youngest of eleven children coming from a family of photographers. Beginning at the age of six when his sister would bring him to her studio in Baton Rouge. She would dress him up in a suit and have him hand out coupons to the troops as they were coming off the ships. She gave him a quarter for every soldier he brought in and had to reduce his salary because he was bringing in too many patrons.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Bobbye Pike Breaux. His parents Alexander Dassas Breaux, Sr. and Estelle Mouton Breaux. He was also preceded in death by seven siblings, Alexander D. Breaux, Jr., Rose B. St. Martin, Allen E. Breaux, Paul J. Breaux, Lena B. Jackson, Arlette B. Peloquin and Ray Breaux.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Della M. Breaux and her son Keil Murry. He is also survived by one son, Jesse Jay Anthony Breaux, Jr. and his wife Carol of Spanish Fort, Alabama, and three daughters, Cynthia B. Bryson wife of Paul Bryson of Baton Rouge, Janice B. Samson wife of John Samson of Baton Rouge and Regina Gina B. Bradley wife of Shawn Bradley of Lafayette.
He is also survived by two sisters, Irene B. Foti of St. Martinville and Doris Dot B. Dauterive of New Iberia and one brother, Jacques Joe Warren Breaux of Lafayette and 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jesses six grandsons, Benjamin Bryson, Frank Ski Betanski III, Drew Samson, Jesse Samson, Brandon Bradley, Martin Samson and Honorary Pallbearers Jonathon Laws and Lucas Breaux. Gift bearers will be his two granddaughters, Katelyn Bradley and Jillian Bradley and Samantha Samson.
Jesse was a kind man and loving husband, father and grandfather who never really met a stranger. He had a true love for life and will always be remembered for his love of family and friends and for keeping God first in his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family requests memorial contributions to be directed to Hospice of Acadiana and St. Edmunds School Building Fund in Jesses name.
