EUNICE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday, February 05, 2009 at 2:00 pm at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Eunice for Jere900; Joseph Longman, 76, who passed away on Tuesday, February 03, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Tom Voorhies and Father Gary Schexnayder, Co-Celebrants.

Jere900;, a resident of Eunice, was a Veteran of the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, having served in the Korean War. For 29 years, he was a sales manager for Moosa Pontiac. He also was an Insurance salesman for Bankers Life with Emeritus status and a Security Guard at L.U.S. in Lafayette. He was named Kiwanis Man of the Year in 1958, was head of Civil Defense in the 1960s and became Volunteer Fire Chief in 1967. He was also a Cub Scout Den Leader and a Little League Baseball Coach.

He leaves behind family and friends who loved him and will miss him. Jere900; is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann B. Longman of Eunice; two sons, Jere900; J. Longman II and wife, Deborah of Philadelphia, and Timothy A. Longman of Eunice; a daughter, Irene L. Davenport of Houston; a brother, Douglas C. Longman and wife, Beverly of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Emily A. Davenport of Baton Rouge, Sarah E. Davenport of Houston, and Julie-Ann Longman of Philadelphia. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. and Hazel Manuel Longman; and a brother, Dr. Jeffery Longman

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, February 04, 2009 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Thursday, February 05, 2009 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited a 7:00 pm Wednesday evening by Deacon Chuck Ortego.
