EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of James Weldon Duplechin announces his passing on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Oaklane Wellness and Rehabilitation at the age of 79. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Father Sonny Brown and Deacon Chuck Ortego officiating.
James was a teacher and mentor at Mamou High School for many years. He also coached Mamou High baseball, football, and girls’ basketball. After teaching and coaching, James began farming. He was also a former President of the Eunice Drainage Board. James was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved him especially his sons, Zachery Duplechin and wife, Jeanette of Mamou and James Lucas Duplechin of Eunice; his daughter, Casey Landreneau of Eunice; sister, Suzette Duplechin of Eunice; five grandchildren, Lauren, Connor, Caitlin, Blaine, and Jacob; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Reed Duplechin; parents, Herline and Mary Lee Rozas Duplechin; and siblings, Stephanie Duplechin, Keith Duplechin, Annette Duplechin, and Andrew Duplechin.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, August 6th from 9:00 am until time of services.
