IOTAIt is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, James Harold Miller, on Thursday, November 24, 2011 in the comfort of his home with family by his side at the age of 86. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery with Father Mikel Polson Celebrant.
James served his country honorably in the United States Marines in World War II in the Pacific Theater and was also very active and supportive in local veteran activities. He was a retired rice farmer and cattleman as well as a retired school bus driver with the Acadia Parish School Board. He left those who knew him with warm memories to cheer us and fill our hearts including his son, Daryl Miller and wife, Jane of Lawtell his three daughters, Diana M. Gotte and husband, Kevin of Crowley, Kathryn M. Simar and husband, Steven of Evangeline and Arlene M. Schneider and husband, David of Houston, TX. He is also mourned by his eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren whom were a great source of joy.
He now rests in Heaven with his beloved wife, Mary Curtis Miller and his four brothers, Allen, Leroy, Floyd and Benette Miller.
At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, November 25th from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Saturday, November 26th from 9:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Friday evening by Deacon Gary Gaudin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to go toward the Masses.
