BASILEIt is with the heaviest hearts and great sadness that the family of Ivan Chris Smith announces his passing on Tuesday, September 04, 2012 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. He was 49. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 06, 2012 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father David Hebert Celebrant.

Ivan known as Chris to all who knew him loved to go camping and hunting but most of all he was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. He will forever be loved and missed by everyone whose hearts he touched including his wife, Charlotte Smith of Basile his mother, Maxie Smith of Basile his son Zach Kitson of Duson his four daughters, Chelsie Smith, Haley Ortego and husband, Hunter, Kirstie Smith and Jacey Mae Smith all of Basile his three brothers, Mike Smith, James Dickie Smith and Craig Smith all of Basile his two sisters, Diane Ardoin and Denise Sonnier both of Basile and the joy of his life his granddaughter, Adilee Blayke Ortego.

He now rests in Heaven with his beloved father, Ivan Smith.

At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Wednesday, September 5th from noon until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening.
