BASILEIt is with heavy heart and great sadness that the family of Irene M. Sonnier announces her passing on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, May 21, 2010 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Bishop Douglas J. Deshotel Celebrant.

Irene a resident of Basile was retired from the Basile State Bank. She was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church. The things that brought Irene the most joy in her life were being with her family and friends attending mass at St. Augustine Catholic Church, gardening, traveling, shopping, going to casino and to Maggies Beauty Shop.

Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her sister, Gladys Duplechain of Kinder and four generations of nieces and nephews. Your memories and love are in our hearts forever and always.

Now she rests in Heaven with her beloved husband, Irving J. Sonnier parents, Tanas and Corinne Manuel and her seven siblings, Lovenia Marcantel, Bernice Fontenot, Alice LeBleu, Luna Deshotel, Pierre Manuel, Don Manuel and John Manuel.

Pallbearers honored to serve are her great great nephews.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Thursday, May 20th from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Friday, May 21st from 8:00 am until time of services. Bishop Douglas J. Deshotel will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Thursday evening.
