EUNICE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice on Saturday, February 21, 2009 for Ira Lawrence Miller, 85, who passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Ed Duhon, Celebrant.
Mr. Miller was a resident of Eunice and retired owner of I.E. Miller Trucking. He is a veteran of the United States Army during World War II serving in the European Theatre under General George Patton as part of the 80th Infantry Division. Mr. Miller will be remembered as one who enjoyed being with his family and his friends and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Suzie S. Miller of Eunice; his three sons, Stephen L. Miller, Jude L. Miller and his wife, Ann all of Eunice, and Richard D. Miller and his wife, Peggy of Lafayette; his two daughters, Beatrice Bezzie Sattler and her husband, Roy, and Arlene C. Miller Trahan and her husband, Donald all of Eunice; a brother, Allen Gus Miller of Eunice; his thirteen grandchildren, and his twenty great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Antoinette B. Miller; a grandson, Benjamin Andrew Trahan; his parents, I.E. and Helen Christ Miller; brothers, Ivan and Henry Miller; and his sisters, Nettie Miller, Helen Derosier, Ina Waffer, Irene Peterson, Lillian Meaux, and Joyce McCauley.
The family request that visiting hours is observed on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, February 21, 2009 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm Friday evening.
