EUNICE- With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of a beloved soul as we announce the passing of Iola M. Miller on Sunday, July 14, 2024, in Eunice, Louisiana at the age of 93. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Father Dugas, Celebrant.
Iola had a huge heart for all people and a soft spot for all animals. Born on August 29, 1930, in Richie, Louisiana, she devoted herself to the love and care of her family. She especially cherished her children and grandchildren. She also thoroughly loved to bake. She found joy in baking for others and was known all around for her delicious poppy seed cake.
Iola’s memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved including her son, Robert M. Sonnier and wife, Gwen of Eunice; five grandchildren, Jason Sonnier, Amanda Sattler Myers, Jude Sonnier, Derek Sonnier, and Devon Sonnier; six greatgrandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
Iola now rests with her husband, Weston Miller; sons, Joseph Kenneth Sonnier and Gerald Wayne Sonnier; daughter, Carla Sattler; parents, Melvin and Lou Pitre Manuel; and sister, Lurline Manuel Bergeron.
A visitation to honor and celebrate Iola's life will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Rosary, led by Deacon Gary Gaudin at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 8:00 AM until dismissal for services.
