EUNICE~It is with great sadness that the family of Hubert Joseph Fontenot, announces his passing on Friday, February 06, 2015 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was 80. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 09, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Msgr. Robert Romero Celebrant.
Hubert was retired from Transco and was an avid LSU fan. He lived the Bible through service to others. He was a wonderful person and will be remembered as a loving, happy and caring individual who was loved by everyone who knew him. He enjoyed hunting, helping others and especially time spent with his beloved family.
He was a loving husband to JoAnn Frey Fontenot of Eunice; a wonderful father to three children, Pam Joubert; Renee Fontenot; and Annette Francois and husband, Duffy all of Eunice; two step daughters, Angie Jarreau and husband, Matt of Washington, DC and Monica Durapau and husband, Keith of Eunice; a brother to Harold Fontenot and wife, Lora of Eunice; Rose Mary Miller, Vicki Thompson both of Eunice and Dorothy Prejean and husband, Larry of Sunset. He was a loving and wonderful grandfather to five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, four step grandchildren and one step great grandchild; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal."
He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria O'Brien Fontenot; his parents, Harry and Mable Bertrand Fontenot; son, Dana Jerome Fontenot and a brother, Virgil Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, February 8th from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Monday, February 9th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 7:15 pm Sunday evening.
