BASILE-Hosea C. Hebert, born on November 09, 1923 to Leonce and Marie Ortego Hebert, Jr. in Tee Mamou, passed away on the evening of Monday, June 29, 2009 at Eunice Extended Care at 85 years of age. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 2:00 pm at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Mikel Polson Celebrant.

Hosea attended school in Basile from 1929 thru 1940 and in 1941 he attended Northwestern State University and then he worked at Heberts Grocery Store until 1943. He was inducted into the United States Army on February 26, 1943 and was honorably discharged on August 21, 1943 and returned to work for Heberts Grocery.

In 1946 Hosea went to Mathieu Business College and graduated in 1951. He then worked at Chunkies Furniture Store until 1956 when he became self employed. In 1956 he also worked at Basile State Bank and remained there until 1957 when he began his notary business. He was one of Basiles main Notary and Income Tax Preparers and worked at this for over 50 years.

Hosea left those who knew him with warm memories to cheer us and fill our hearts. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews who along with the Basile Community will miss him dearly.

Now he rests in heaven with his beloved parents, brothers, and sisters.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 1:30 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Wednesday, July 01, 2009 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening.
