EUNICEA wonderful father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Horace Fontenot will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Horace died peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Eunice Manor surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 90. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, October 25, 2010 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Cedric Sonnier, Celebrant.
Horace was retired from May Brothers as well as a retired bus driver with the St. Landry Parish School Board. He enjoyed sports and gardening but most importantly he loved being with his family and friends. He was very much loved by his two daughters, Bobbi Power and husband, Frank of Liberty, MS and Mary Deason of DeQuincy his brother, Edward Fontenot of Walker and his sister, Ruth Crosby of Ville Platte. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Jack Deason, Jr., Jessica Buxton and Michael Power and further blessed with seven great grandchildren, Ashley Buxton, Kelsey Buxton, Jaci Buxton, Nicholas Ladner, Claire Power, Jaclyn Deason and Bryce Deason.
Now he rests in Heaven with his beloved wife, Isabelle Duplechain Fontenot his parents, Henri and Delta Fontenot his brothers and sisters, Iris Broussard, Armis Vidrine, Alton Fontenot, Lawrence Fontenot, Rose Fontenot and Clayton Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, October 24th from 1:30 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Monday, October 25th from 8:00 am until time of services. Father Cedric Sonnier will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Sunday evening.
