EUNICEA wonderful father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Herman Paul Fontenot will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Herman died peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at home surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 87. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Cedric Sonnier Celebrant.
Herman served his country proudly in the United States Army having served in World War II as a Army Medic and attended Honor Air Flight 3 in Washington, DC. He was retired from Tenneco Oil as well as a member of the VFW and a member of the St. Thomas More Knights of Columbus. Herman was a handyman and loved helping everyone especially his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy including, his son, Keith Fontenot and wife, Arlette of Opelousas his daughters, Renee Fontenot Soileau and husband, Steve and Lisa Fontenot Ardoin and husband, Ray all of Eunice his brother, Joseph Dewey Fontenot, Jr. and wife, Mary Ann of Ville Platte his four grandchildren, Jerred Courville and wife, Crystal, Joseph Courville and Meeka, Nicolas Fontenot, and Whitney Rose Ardoin one great grandson, Kolby Courville and a stepgrandson, Marcus Soileau.
Now he rests in Heaven with his beloved wife, Rose Mary Fusilier Fontenot his parents, Joseph and Ollie Fontenot, Sr. his brothers, John Sylvan, Louis Percy and Floyd Fontenot his sisters, Ella Mae Read Guillory and Bernadette Nichols.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, March 24th from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Friday, March 25th from 8:00 am until time of services. Father Cedric Sonnier will recite a Rosary Thursday evening at 7:00 pm.
