Helmut Labrentz

 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Helmut Labrentz on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the age of 80. Helmut passed away at Acadia St. Landry Nursing and Rehab in Church Point. A Funeral Service to honor his life will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 11:00 am at Mowata Baptist Church, followed by a burial in Mowata Baptist Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Rev. Bill McCullin and Rev. Glen Howie.

 Helmut Labrentz was born on February 24, 1944, in Poland to August and Leokadia Sass Labrentz. His early life was marked by resilience and determination as he navigated through various challenges. Helmut's journey led him from a refugee camp to escaping East Germany and eventually obtaining his PHD from the University of Southern Mississippi. He dedicated his professional life to serving as a Psychologist spanned various spheres, notably including his work with the State of Louisiana and in the realm of private practice. Known for his sociable nature, love for travel, and melodious singing voice, Helmut touched the hearts of many.

 Helmut will be deeply missed by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Erica L. Labrentz of Branch, along with his brother Reuben Labrentz and wife Gisela of Edmonton Alberta, Canada, and his sisters Aurelia Gretzinger and Martha Schultz, also of Edmonton Alberta, Canada. He is fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Helmut was preceded in death by his parents, August and Leokadia Sass Labrentz, and six siblings.

 A visitation will be held on the same day as the funeral service, Tuesday, August 13th, at Mowata Baptist Church starting at 9:00 am.
