Hayward Johnwell, Jr

EUNICE~ On Wednesday, June 01, 2022, Hayward Johnwell, Jr, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away at the Opelousas General Hospital at the age of 78. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday,  June 15 ,2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Sal Istre, officiating.

Hayward born October 31, 1943, in Eunice to Hayward and Vinice Goodly Johnwell was a big Dallas Cowboy fan. He loved all sports and music. He loved people and was loved by all. Hayward will be missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved him.  He will be forever remembered by his wife of nineteen years, Betty Jean Johnwell of Eunice; his daughter, Kimberly Johnwell of Los Angeles, CA; step daughter, Dinah Hixon and husband, Steven of Kenner; three brothers, Harry Johnwell, Lawrence Johnwell and Jerry Miller and wife, Judy all of Eunice; seven sisters, Patricia Davis of Inglewood, CA, Linda Jones, Genora Goodly, Jeanella  Ardoin and husband, Paul all of Eunice, Karen Johnwell of Ontario, CA, Alice Johnwell and husband, Kevin Gasper of Port Arthur, TX and Nicole Johnwell and husband, Charles of Moreno Valley, CA; grandchildren, Hayley Simmons and Kaitlyn Lloyd; step grandchildren, Brandon Haynes, Skyy Haynes and Victoria Haynes. Hayward will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Horace “Leelee” Johnwell and sisters, Mary and Susan Johnwell.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, June 14th from 6pm until 9pm. Deacon Gary Gaudin will pray a Rosary at 7 pm on Tuesday.
