EUNICE With much sorrow, the family announces the passing of their loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Harold Fontenot who passed away in his 77th year with family by his side at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice on the morning of Thursday, May 30, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:30 AM on Sunday, June 02, 2013 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Thomas More Cemetery with Father Cedric Sonnier Celebrant.
Harold proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Ferrara Fire Fighting Equipment where he was well known through out the state of Louisiana and Mississippi in sales and services of Fire Apparatus. He was a lifetime member of the Eunice Firemans Association and Louisiana State Firemans Association as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Louisiana Fire Chief Association, and a Volunteer Fireman. Harold loved hunting, fishing, and L.S.U. sports but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. A proud, caring man, he will be greatly missed by family and friends especially his beloved wife of 55 years, Audrey D. Fontenot of Eunice his four loving children, his son, Harold Dwayne Fontenot and wife, Sandy of Eunice his three daughters, Cindy Fontenot and husband, Blair of Eunice, Jackie Fruge and husband, Brent of Lakeland, FL and Vickie Norbutas and husband, John of Camarillo, CA. He was a wonderful and loving grandfather to nine grandchildren, Gina, Cody, Jay, Whitney, Katie, Hunter, Chelsea, Nicholas, and Jackson and a great grandfather to four great grandchildren, Wyatt, Wes, Brayden, and AnneMarie.
He now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Regile and Mary Fontenot a brother, Joseph Fontenot and a grandson, Rhett Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, June 1st from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Sunday, June 2nd from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 6:30 pm Saturday evening.
