EUNICEA wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Gladys Bertrand will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Gladys died peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2012 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 96. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 27, 2012. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Jerry Messley Celebrant.

Gladys was retired from Weills Department Store and owner of Gladys Boutique. She loved yard work, gardening, sewing and quilting. She will forever be loved and missed by everyone whose hearts she touched including her son, James Allen Bertrand and wife, Lana of Sulphur her daughter, Patricia Stroderd of Basile two brothers, Lawrence Schambaugh of Eunice and Allen Schambaugh of Kingwood, TX. five grandchildren, Jennifer ONeill, Dr. Jeffery Bertrand, Kelli Stark, Erica Frye and Jake Bertrand twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She now rest in Heaven with her beloved husband, Houston Bertrand her parents, Charles and Ozea Bergeron Schambaugh two brothers, Charles and Gurvis Schambaugh two sisters, Elgerna Courville and Iola Fruge.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, February 26th from 10:00 am till 9:00 pm and again on Monday, February 27th from 9:00 am until time of services. Fr. Kendall Faulk will recite a Rosary at 7:30 pm Sunday evening.
