Frankie Joseph LaFleur, Sr., 73, prominent local businessman, passed away Friday morning, March 15, 2013 surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. LaFleur was a 1959 Graduate of Eunice High School. A 1962 Graduate of LSU where he was a proud member of the LSU Cheerleading Squad. He continued his education at NLU where he graduated from the School of Pharmacy in 1967. He practiced as a pharmacist and owned his own pharmacy for many years before becoming a nursing home administrator. LaFleur, along with his wife, Mamie Fisher LaFleur, were founders of Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro and Oaklane Wellness Rehab in Eunice. They also founded the Eunice Developmental Center, Liberty 6 Community Homes in Eunice and Ville Platte and South Louisiana Community Homes in Thibodeaux.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, March 18, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Msgr. Robert Romero Celebrant.
Mr. LaFleur will be missed by his wife of 50 years, Ella Mae Mamie Fisher LaFleur, their three children and spouses, Frankie Joseph Scotty LaFleur, Jr. and Denel Ortego LaFleur, Angella Fae LaFleur Leger and Michael Keith Leger, and Clark David LaFleur and Dayna Andrus LaFleur. His grandchildren are Caroline Elizabeth LaFleur, Ashley Victoria LaFleur, David Scott LaFleur, Olivia Claire LaFleur, Austin Clark LaFleur, Ross Patrick LaFleur, Gibson Mark LaFleur, Mary Beth LaFleur, Kathryn Paige Leger, and Camille Elizabeth Leger. He is survived by one brother, Harry Lee LaFleur and four sisters, Elsie Mae LaFleur Bellard, Anna LaFleur Jernigan, Mary Ann LaFleur Broussard, and Mary Lena LaFleur Babineaux. He will also be missed by many friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Doza and Emily B. LaFleur, two brothers, Raymond LaFleur and Dewey LaFleur and one infant sister, Dora Belle LaFleur.
At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, March 17th from 9:00 am until time of services on Monday, March 18th. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Sunday evening.
