EUNICE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata for Frank William Thevis, 66, who passed away on Friday, May 30, 2008 at his residence. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery with Father Joseph Sai Tran officiating.

Mr. Thevis is a resident of Mowata and a 1959 graduate of St. Michael High School in Crowley as well as a 1963 graduated of the mechanics course from Southwest La. Vocational Technical School. From 1959 to 1962, Mr. Thevis served his country as a veteran of the United State Army National Guard. In 1986, he was a Co Founder, Board Member, and President of the Richard Volunteer Fire Department, to also include a member of the Holy Name Society, in the St.. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata and the St. Leos Catholic Church in Roberts Cove. Mr. Thevis was also a Finance Commission Member and an usher in the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Along with his many other contributions Mr. Thevis also served on the Acadia Parish E-911 as a Board Member as well as the owner and operator of Acadiana Used Auto and Truck Parts in Eunice. All who knew Mr. Thevis will sadly miss him.

A loving, Son, Father, Brother, and Grandpa, Mr. Thevis is survived by his two sons, Dwayne Thevis and his wife, Jackie of Eunice, Dewey Thevis and his wife, Nikki of Broussard; one daughter, Vickie Frey and her husband, Stephen of Eunice; his mother, Agnes Reiners Thevis of Rayne; four brothers, Leo Thevis, Arnold Thevis, Andrew Thevis all of Gueydan, and Paul Thevis of Branch; three sisters, Clara Savoy of Church Point, Rose Hornsby of Branch and Loretta Kebodeaux of Iota; five grandchildren, Stephanie Thevis, Jennifer and Derrick Frey, Hunter and Tanner Thevis.

His wife, Nora Bellard Thevis, his father, William Thevis, preceded him in death.

The family request that visitation begin on Friday, May 30, 2008 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, May 31, 2008 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Friday evening.
