EUNICE- A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 14, 2008 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice for Francis Dupre, 88, who passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the Eunice Manor. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Thomas More Cemetery with The Reverend Father Cedric Sonnier, Celebrant.
Mr. Dupre was a retired equipment operator for Acadia Parish as well as the state of Louisiana. Prior to that, he worked in the local area as an avid rice farmer and was also recognized as a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. Mr. Dupre continued to periodically harvest rice while raising his family and working for the state. He also pursued his hobby of repairing and working on small engines in his pass time. Mr. Dupre and his wife Lelia, loved Cajun French music and dancing. Together they taught others how to dance through the Cajun French Music Association.
Mr. Dupres wife, children, family and friends were his life. Those who have been blessed to have known him, knew him to be a very polite and peaceful gentleman who will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lelia P. Dupre of Eunice; four sons, Bobby J. Dupre and wife, JoAnn, Philip Fee Dupre and wife, Anita, Daniel Dupre and wife, Elena, Raphael Ray Dupre and wife, Tracie all of Eunice; a daughter, Sherry Dupre Courville and husband, Glenn of Maurice; a brother, Fredrick Dupre of Ritchie; three sisters, Mildred Fuselier, Deanna Dupre, and Delores Rachal and husband, Wesley all of Eunice; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gwendolyn Wood; grandchild, Matthew Wood; Parents, Frank and Celima Bertrand Dupre; three brothers, and two sisters.
The family request that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Friday, November 14, 2008 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm Thursday evening.
