Funeral services for Mr. Francis Dietz were held on Sunday, August 6, 2006, at 3 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. Burial followed in the Iota Cemetery with Pastor Gary Koopman officiating.

Mr. Dietz, age 63 and a resident of Iota, died on Friday, August 4, 2006, at 6 a.m. at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mabel Miller Dietz. Mr. Dietz was retired from Mobil Oil and was an active member in his church. He loved gardening and was a very devoted husband and father.

The visitation was held on Saturday, August 5, 2006, from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. again on Sunday, August 6, 2006, from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara H. Dietz of Iota; three sons, Shannon Dietz of Baton Rouge, Aaron Dietz of Iota, and Brian Dietz of Iota; one daughters, Alison Dietz of Iota; four brothers, Marvin Ed Dietz of Eunice, Velton Dietz of Abbeville, Lee Dietz of Iota, and Aubrey Dietz of Iota; four sisters, Evelyn Sister Regan of Iota, Dorris Regan of Egan, Rita Connor of Iota, and Mavis Dietz of Iota.

Ardoins Funeral Home of Iota was in charge of arrangements.
