EUNICEA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice for Ferdinand Jack Thevis, 81 who died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Southwest Louisiana War Vets Home in Jennings. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Thomas Habetz Celebrant.

Ferdinand known as Jack to all who knew him was a proud veteran in the United States Army serving as a member of the 7th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Halliburton Services after 33 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, VFW8971, St. Leos Holy Name Society and Charter Member of the Roberts Cove Germanfest Association. He was a driver for the Disabled American Veterans as well as a volunteer at St. Anthony Catholic Church Parish.

He is survived by his wife, Wilda LeJeune Thevis of Eunice two daughters, Jacqueline Thevis Shirley and husband, Robert of Leesville and Tammy Thevis Siffert and husband, Robert of Covington two grandchildren, Gretchen Michelle Siffert of Austin and Veronica Leigh Siffert of Houston.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Veronica Ohlenforst Thevis and two brothers, Anthony and Lionel Thevis.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, April 23rd from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Tuesday, April 24 from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:30 pm Monday evening.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, and for those who desire, memorial contributions be made to Alzheimers Association, 3717 Government Street, Suite 7, Alexandria, LA 71302, American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 731231718 or American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 752840692.

The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 2 at the War Veterans Home for all their love, compassion and support during his stay.
