EUNICEIt is with heavy hearts that the family of Euna Manuel announces her passing on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Oaklane Wellness and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 100. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Msgr. Robert Romero Celebrant.

Euna was a very devout Catholic, always praying for others and being involved in her church parish. She played a key role in the set up and organization of the Alter Society at Annunciation Catholic Church in Duralde. Euna was also the recipient of many distinguished awards and accomplishments such as the Annunciation Parish Church Bazaar being dedicated in her honor in 1997, 25 years of dedicated service to the Duralde Ladies Altar Society, LA PAROISSE EVANGELINE 1911 2011 Basiles Oldest Citizen and the Key to the city award of Eunice on June 24, 2012. Her favorite hobbies were working in her flower beds, gardening and visiting with family and friends. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will forever be loved and missed by her son, Floyd VIdrine and wife, Theresa Dot of Eunice her brother, Kelly Ashford and wife, Lilly of Kinder her sisters, Thea Ashford of Tyrone and Anna Belle Gutentag and husband, Edwin of Denver, CO her sisterinlaws, Mattie Ashford and Della Ashford both of Kinder, Lorita Ashford of Basile her three grandchildren, JoAnna DeBarge and husband, Jason of Eunice, Glenn Vidrine and wife, Joan of Basile and Bryan Vidrine of Eunice seven great grandchildren, Hollie McAtee and husband, Anthony of Broussard, Chad Faul and girlfriend, Kyla Courville of Basile, Laynee Jo DeBarge of Eunice, Jamie Vidrine of Eunice, Brandon Vidrine and wife, Stephanie of Eunice, Richland Vidrine and boyfriend, Eric Robinson of Elton and Blaise Vidrine of Basile seven great great grandchildren, Conner and Hayden Lane McAtee, Marlee Kaye Faul, Ryan Langley, Jackson Seth Vidrine, Miranda Vidrine, Brodie Istre, Matthew Myers, Slate and Kase Robinson.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Joseph Vidrine and Valentine Manuel brothers, Preston, Lettel and Burkman Ashford sister, Infant baby sister parents, Cemien and Celeste Fruge Ashford and granddaughterinlaw, Brenda West Vidrine.

At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, October 2nd from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Wednesday, October 3rd from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Jim Cormier will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening.
