EUNICE-Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 08, 2006, at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Eunice for Mrs. Emma Grace Duplechin, 77, who died Wednesday, November 6, 2006, at Lafayette General Hospital.
Interment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum in Eunice with Father Herbert Benefield officiating.
Grace was first and foremost a devoted mother. She was extremely active throughout her daughters growth, following them while cheerleading to football games, beauty pageants, and all that three active daughters do. She was extremely supportive of their school activities serving as the favored class chaperone on so many occasions; she actually won the first and only Spirit Award 1969 given to a nonstudent during St. Edmunds awards ceremonies.
She worked hard at Catholic Daughters for many years and was distinguished as Catholic Daughters of the year for her efforts. She also served two terms as President of the AMWA for which she was voted two years consecutively as the Business Women of the Year.
She worked as a Metropolitan Insurance Saleswomen for many years communiting to Lake Charles weekly. She loved life, Cajun cooking, Cajun food, local casinos, sac a lait fishing and traveling and being with her extended family, as well as her friends. She was a wonderful hostess and loved overfeeding her family and friends on every holiday occasion. She was known as and called Amazing Grace for her tireless energy and loving heart.
Survivors include her three daughters, Deborah Duplechin Harkins and husband, Corky, Rene Duplechin Garland and husband, Eric, Michelle Duplechin Lee and husband, John all of Lafayette; a longtime friend, Lew Lotz of Eunice; six grandchildren, Joshua Garland, Sean Garland, Dionne D. Parks, Jude Duplechin, Gregory S. Harkins, Jason Harkins; three great-grandchildren, Emerson Parks, Evie Garland, and Madison Garland.
Preceded in death by her husband, Durio J. Duplechin, Sr.; son, Duro J. Duplechin Jr.; grandson, Corey Paul Francois.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 07, 2006, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, November 08, 2006, from 8:00 am until time of services.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday evening.
