EUNICEIt is with great sadness that the family of Elvin Phillip Cap Caswell announces his passing on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings at the age of 84. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
A proud veteran, Elvin served in the United States Army and the United States Air Force. In the Army he received a good conduct medal, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, Parachute Badge and a National Defense Service Medal. He was a faithful lifetime member of VFW Post 8971 in Eunice. Sadly missed but joyfully remembered by his son, Joseph Phillip Gartman and wife, Kimberly of Kinder a brother, Viel Caswell of Eunice two sisters, Elrine Sagura of Eunice and Bea Doucet of Iota three grandchildren, Sarah, Laura, and Hannah Gartman.
He now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Elice and Lourisa Bertrand Caswell four sisters, Mary Stroderd, Eva Caswell, Lilly Young and Mae Seilhan.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, February 24th from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Monday, February 25th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Sunday evening.
