IOTA-A Mass of Christian Burial for Elson W. Leckelt, 84, will be Friday, April 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery with Father Mikel Polson officiating.

Mr. Leckelt, a resident of Iota passed away on Wednesday, April 09, 2008 at Eunice Manor Nursing Home. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.

A loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Louise P. Leckelt of Iota; five children, Elson H. Leckelt Jr. of Iota, Larry Leckelt of Iota, Richard Leckelt of Iota, Patricia Richard of Richard, and Charles Leckelt of Eunice; three brothers, Dewey Leckelt, Melvin Leckelt, and Nelvin Leckelt all of Evangeline; one sister, Lorice Cormier of Jennings; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Alice Leckelt; two grandsons, Henry Leckelt, Michael Richard; two brothers, Richard and Herman Leckelt; and one sister, Annie Self.

Family request that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and again on Friday, April 11, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

Brock Cormier, organist and soloist, will sing for the services.
