EUNICEIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Elgin Jean Thibodeaux announces her passing on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Eunice Manor with loving family by her side. She was 74. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Sensat Celebrant.

Elgin, better known as Jean was a loving companion, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She will forever be loved and missed by everyone whose hearts she touched especially her companion, Dolan Duplechin of Eunice her four children, Debbie Thibodeaux Fontenot of Eunice and Henrietta T. Fontenot and husband, Roy all of Eunice Sandy T. Christ of Lafayette and Ray Thibodeaux of Eunice her brother, Hubert Matte of Rayne. She was blessed with ten grandchildren, Tanva Huval, Crystal Devillier, Naomi Fontenot, Thomas, David, McKenzie and Montanna Thibodeaux, Lexie Vincent, Derek and Tiffani Christ three step grandchildren, Patricia Guillory, Paula Bergeaux and Susan Hagler eight great grandchildren, Kelci, Addie, Jaedyn, Karleigh, Landon, Oliver, Jagger and Harper five step great grandchildren, Madison, Phillip, Brandon, Lily and Gabe as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Thibodeaux her parents, Wallace and Lucia Janise Matte and two brothers, Freddie and Harold Matte.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, October 29th from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Thursday, October 30th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening.
