EUNICE-It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Blanchard Miller announces her passing on Sunday, July 05, 2009 at Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro at the age of 60. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 11:30 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Austin Leger Celebrant.
Living most of her life in this area, she was a retired cafeteria worker for the St. Landry Parish School Board. The things that brought Dorothy the most joy in her life were being with her family and friends, and raising exotic birds. She was a member of the Acadiana Bird Club. Left behind to cherish her memories are her two beloved children, her son Jacque Miller of Carencro; her daughter, Dawn Miller Reed and her husband, Jonathan of Carencro; her three sisters, Rose Arton of Lafayette, Norma Thevis of Crowley, and Lee Picard of Eunice, her three loving grandchildren, James Miller, Justin Reed, and Jacob Reed. She left those who knew her with warm memories to cheer us and fill our hearts.
Now she rests in heaven with her beloved parents, Milton T.T. and Amy Leger Blanchard; her son Larry Toonie Miller, Jr; her two brothers, Elvy Blanchard and Levy Blanchard; her two sisters, Elvina Savoy and Catherine Young.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, July 07, 2009 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Wednesday, July 08, 2009 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening.
