EUNICEOur mom, Dorothy Jane Young Huckaby, passed away at Oaklane Wellness Rehabilitation Center on the morning of Friday, April 12, 2013 surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 78. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, April 15, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father John Huckaby and Msgr. J.Robert Romero Celebrant.
Dorothy Jane and her husband, John were owners of Johns TV Service for 45 years. They also cared for 19 foster children over a number of years. She was a most loving, caring mother, grandmother, sister and will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends. She was a loving mother to eight children, Jude Huckaby Rhoda Huckaby of Eunice, Sr. Joan Manuel of Baton Rouge, Jann Hebert of Eunice, Jason Huckaby Michael Schoenenberger of Jenner,California, Janie Huckaby of Eunice, Jonathan Huckaby Wallace Bennett of Kingwood,TX, Jody Huckaby Stephen Goolsby of Washington, D.C. and Father John Huckaby of Lake Charles. She was a wonderful and loving grandmother to thirteen grandchildren, Lori Guillory Troy, Wendy Young Tracy, Dustin HuckabyAdrienne Matthew HuckabyAdrianna, Laci Byrne Jeremy, Shane ManuelNikki, Michael ManuelSarah, Christopher Hebert, Aimee Hebert Thomas, Patrick Hebert Dianna Bryan Hebert, Taylor Bennett and Symone Bennett twentyfour great grandchildren.
She now rests in Heaven with her beloved husband, John Bertin Huckaby, Sr and her parents, Lawrence and Bernadette OPry Young: four brothers, Lawrence Young, Jr., Walter Young and Floyd Young seven sisters, Nora Rayon, Wilma Fontenot, Beatrice Higginbotham, Bernadine Robinson, Emelina Carlin, Elverna Carrier and Florence Stanley.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, April 13th from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Sunday, April 14th from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and on Monday, April 15th from 8:00 am until time of services. The family will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Saturday evening and Deacon Chuck Ortego will recite one at 6:00 pm Sunday evening.
