EUNICEIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Donald Ray Thibodeaux announces his passing on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Acadian Medical Center in Eunice surrounded by his loved ones. He was 62. A Celebration of Life will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 3:00 pm with burial to follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Deacon David Guillory officiating.
Donald was a master accordion player as well as a builder. He was a founding member of the Don Thibodeaux and Cajun Fever Band. He and his father were inducted into the Cajun Music Hall of Fame in Mamou in 1999.
He leaves behind three children and his family who is heartbroken at their loss, his son, Donald Ray Thibodeaux, Jr of Eunice his two daughters, Lisa Kaye Thibodeaux and Judy Blanchard and her husband, Mike all of Eunice his three brothers, Albert Thibodeaux and his wife, Linda of Sulphur formerly of Eunice, Mike Thibodeaux and his wife, Laura of Houston, TX and Carlton Thibodeaux, Sr. of Eunice. Also mourning his loss the littlest joys of his life, his grandchildren, Ashley Pickett, Tiffany Fontenot, Shalei McGee, Brydie Richard, Amber Thibodeaux, Jada, Michael and Layla Blanchard and seven great grandchildren as well as many other loving family members and friends.
Now he rests in heaven with his beloved wife, Henrietta Deaville Thibodeaux his parents, Glady and Lillian Gautreaux Thibodeaux and his sister, Elaine Marie Gaspard.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, January 18, 2010 from 4:00 pm until time of services on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 7:15 pm Monday evening.
