EUNICE~Our hearts are filled with sorrow as we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Dillard Sonnier in the comfort of his home at the age of 77. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Matthew Hebert Celebrant.

Dillard was a wonderful person and will be remembered as a talker, jokester, very outgoing and never met a stranger. He loved hunting, cooking and spending time with his family and friends. He will be loved and missed by everyone who knew him especially his three children, JoJuanna Sonnier of Basile, and significant other, Tony Johnson of Eunice, Jase Sonnier of Basile and Jeno Holcomb, Sr of Eunice; daughter in law, Denise S. Sonnier of Basile; a brother, Elden "Bada" Sonnier and wife, Elaine of Basile; the joys of his life his five grandchildren, Corie Sonnier and wife, Jennifer, Beedo Sonnier, Cadie S. Hundley and husband, Jack, Jesslyn Holcomb and Jeno Holcomb, Jr. and two great grandchildren, Lakeyn and John Haydyn Sonnier; as well as extended family and friends. "The most painful goodbyes are the ones that are never said and never explained."

He is preceded in death by his son, Johnny "Book-T" Sonnier; parents, Dolzy and Avia Guidry Sonnier; sisters, Inez S. Duplechain and Helen Sonnier; brothers, Renis, Paul " L.J." and Joseph "Bozo" Sonnier.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, July 10th from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Wednesday, July 11th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Tuesday.
