EUNICEA wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Dempsey Joseph Fuselier will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Dempsey died peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Oaklane Wellness Rehabilitation Center in Eunice. He was 82. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Cedric Sonnier Celebrant.
Dempsey served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a retired businessman as well as a member of the VFW and Cajun Music Association. He had a love for gardening, fishing, dancing and playing his accordion. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gertie Fuselier of Maringouin his son, Todd M. Fuselier and wife, Lisa of Eunice his four step sons, Rodney Courville and wife, Fawn of Maringouin, Donald Courville and wife, Vickie of Port Allen, Gregory Courville and wife, Penny of Brusly Charles Courville of Moss Bluff his four daughters, Kathy Fontenot and husband, Lawrence of Eunice, Liz Clary and husband, Skip of Opelousas, Becky Baronet and husband, David of Broussard and Julie Mott and husband, Bernard of Youngsville his step daughter, Cathy Pottschmedt and husband, Ross of Baton Rouge his eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Lou Fuselier and his grandson, Richard Allen Mott.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, June 15th from noon until 9:00 pm and again on Thursday, June 16th from 8:00 am until time of services. Father Cedric Sonnier will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening.
