EUNICEIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Claude Jimmy Courville announces his passing on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. He was 65. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 12, 2012 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Thomas More Cemetery with Father Cedric Sonnier Celebrant.
Claude known as Jimmy to all who knew him was a proud Veteran in the United States Army as well as a Retired Assistant Principal at Eunice Junior High School. He was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Acadia Parish Police Juror for 8 years and President for 4 years. He was instrumental in creating Fire District 4 in Acadia Parish and was a member of the Cajun Pines Hunting Lease member. He was an Avid bow hunter and a fisherman. But the joy of his life was cooking, camping and family vacation with his wife, children and grandchildren. Jimmy was best described as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend who always had an open heart and devoted his life to his family. Precious memories of him will remain forever in the hearts of his wife of 43 years, Carolyn K. Courville of Eunice and his two children, a son, Clay Courville and wife, Kristy of Lafayette a daughter, Millie C. Dardar and husband, Chris of Lafayette his three sisters, Mona Bertrand and husband, Willis, Myrna Miller and husband, Garrett all of Eunice and T.C. Sittig and husband, Scott of Lake Charles. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Layne, Sydnie, and Raegan Courville, Mia, Cade, Maggie and Marlie Dardar.
He now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Claude and Lillie Mae Fontenot Courville two daughters, Amanda Lucille and Kathryn Claire Courville and a brother, Jeffrey Courville.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, May 11th from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Saturday, May 12th from 8:00 am until time of services. Father Cedric Sonnier will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Friday evening.
