BASILEIt is with great sadness and the heaviest of hearts that the family announces the passing of a loving wife, dear daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Catherine James Fontenot on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at her mothers home surrounded by all her loved ones. She was 53. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, December 17, 2010 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Brian Taylor Celebrant.

Catherine know as Cathy to all who knew her has received her wings and is now soaring above looking over her family. The only thing bigger than Cathys laugh was her heart. She touched so many peoples lives with her giving and compassionate soul. She worked at Thrifty Way Pharmacy in Basile as well as being a St. Augustine Ladies Altar Society, CCD teacher for the 9th grade and a Pageant Director for the Louisiana Swine Festival. She leaves behind a loving and grateful family including her husband, Dal Fontenot of Basile her mother, Haidie James of Basile her children, Mitchell Boenig, Jr. and wife, Erin of Basile, Christine Fontenot Boyer and husband, Chad of Basile, Patrick Fontenot and wife, Danielle of Crowley, Michael Fontenot, Jordan Fontenot, John Jesse Fontenot, Trey Fontenot and Olivia Fontenot all of Basile her three brothers, Charles, Kenny and Greg James all of Basile her four sisters, Janell Ashford of Basile, Cindy Smith of Swords, Evelyn LeBleu and Madeline James both of Basile. She was the cherished grandmother of Mason, Emma, Sy, Elisabeth, Slade, Quinn, Ansleigh, Patrick and Cade. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and her many dear friends.

Now she rests in Heaven with her beloved father, Everette James.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Thursday, December 16th from 9:00 am until time of services on Friday. The Ladies Altar Society will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Thursday evening follow by a prayer service by the CCD teachers.
