ELTON With the heaviest of hearts the family announces the passing of Bonnie Guidry on Sunday, October 09, 2022, in the comfort of her home with all four of her children by her side, at the age of 83. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Elton. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery in Elton with Father Jose Vattakunnel, Celebrant.
Bonnie was born on May 25, 1939 to Clement and Modeste Fuselier Gauthreaux in Mamou. She was a 1957 graduate of Vidrine High School. Ms. Bonnie was known for her nursey school that she had for over twenty years and many continued to visit her throughout their adult years. Bonnie loved being a coach’s wife of the Elton Indians athletics. She would meet with friends often for prayer, coffee and playing cards. Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she brightened the hearts of all who knew her. “Faith, Church, Family and Friends.” Her signature saying was “Keep the Faith.”
Bonnie may no longer be in our lives, but she lives forever in our hearts especially her children, Terrell Langley and husband, Kirk of Heath, TX, Tommy Guidry and wife, Kim of Elton, Becky Breaux and husband, Russell of Crowley and Ted Guidry and wife, Joy of Eunice; her thirteen grandchildren, Kelley Sonnier and husband, Brent, Daniel Langley, Ryan Guidry, Josh Guidry and wife, Chelsie, Maddox Guidry, Shelley Bendily and husband, John, Stefan Zaunbrecher, Shea Zaunbrecher, Christian Breaux, Lauren Breaux, Payton Fontenot and husband, Triston, Hailey Roberts and husband, Philip and Hannah Prentiss and husband, David; seventeen great grandchildren, Emily, Logan, Hayden, Garrison, Sally-Jean, Rivers, Genevieve, Jon Luke, Millie, William, Greta, Paul, Jack, Brooks, Teddy, Shepherd and August; as well as extended family and many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oris Guidry and her brother, Roderick Gauthreaux.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church in Elton on Thursday, October 13th from 9:00 am until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 12:00 noon.
