EUNICEIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Betty Jane Wimberley on August 31, 2010 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 70. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, September 03, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with The Rev. Father Kendal Faulk Celebrant.

Betty was a homemaker who devoted her life to the care of her family with a special love to her grandchildren. She was the first and only woman in St. Landry Parish elected to serve as a county committee member for FSA Farm Service Administration, as well as the first woman elected to the county board for FHA Farmers Home Administration. Betty enjoyed many joys in her life but traveling and cooking were her favorite.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Chester Wimberley of Swords her four sons, Dale Wimberley and wife, Pam of Church Point, James Wimberley and wife, Suzanne and Wayne Wimberley and wife, Kathy all of Eunice, and Byron Wimberley and wife, Belinda of Leonville her three sisters, Mary Sherritt of Ville Platte, Sandra Riley and husband, Richard of Moss Bluff and Debra Bolfa and husband, Larry of Ville Platte. She was blessed with ten grandchildren, Kelly, Hailie, Jessica, Trey, Megan, Robby, Brock, Adam, Blanche and Briggs and was further blessed with one great grandson, Tyler. Also mourning her loss is numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

Now she rests in Heaven with her beloved parents, Leza and Leona Fontenot Darbonne and her brother, James Brady Darbonne.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, September 2nd from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Friday, September 3rd from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Thursday evening by Deacon Gary Gaudin.

The family would like to express great appreciation for the love, care, and thoughtfulness given to Betty by Dr. J.Y. Bordelon and staff, Angie Goin N.P. and Staff, Gertrude Broach, Florine Daigle, Linda Champion, Mrs. Grace Bertrand, and Mrs. Olidia Bordelon for their many hours of support. Special thanks also to the nurses and staff of Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care of Opelousas and AcadiaSt. Landry Home Health Agency of Church Point.
