BASILE Its with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved sister, aunt, and friend Bertha Marie Arabie on Sunday, June 05, 2011 at the age of 55. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 07, 2011 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Jules Cemetery with Father Brian Taylor Celebrant.

Bertha was a graduate of Basile High School class of 1974 as well as a nurses aide at the Basile Nursing Home. Those left to cherish her memory include her three brothers, Tom Arabie and wife, Gerry of Lafayette, Joe Arabie and wife, Doris of St. Francisville, Lee Arabie and wife, Brenda of Scott two sisters, Geneva Bellard and husband, Rodney of Opelousas and Jeanette Young and husband, Freddie of Basile and twelve nieces and nephews.

She now rests in Heaven with her beloved parents, Zannie and Dula Higginbotham Arabie and a nephew, Corey Superman Young.

At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Monday, June 6th from 4:00 pm until time of services on Tuesday, June 7th. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Monday evening.
