EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Austin G. Smith announces his passing on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the age of 80. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice with Father Sam Fontana, Celebrant.

 Austin, born on October 26, 1944, to the late Hillman and Maria Rider Smith, was a veteran of the United States Navy. He found great joy in hunting, fishing, and playing golf. If you knew him, you knew the love he had for serving his country, the love he had for his family, and how he always showed up if you asked him to. We will miss you always Paw Paw, fly high with Sue. We love you.

 Austin is survived by his two children, Kirk Smith and wife, Jill, and Bridget Klein and husband, Scott, all of Eunice; two brothers, Herman Smith and wife, Susan of Texas, and Winston Smith and wife, Kathy of Juno, Alaska; sister, Lucille Shamburger and husband, Mark of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

 Austin is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Smith,  and his parents.

 At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 8:00 am until time of services.
