Anward Joseph Mayeaux, Jr.

EUNICE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice, LA for Anward Joseph Mayeaux, Jr., age 76 who passed away at his home on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in Eunice surrounded by his wife, four children, and family. Anward was born in Ville Platte, LA on August 23, 1948, to Berdine and Anward Joseph Mayeaux, Sr.

 Anward served his country in the United States Air Force. He also served the community of Elton, LA for over 43 years as owner and Pharmacist of Mayeaux’s Family Pharmacy. Anward was a simple man with great devotion to God and his wife of 55 years. He saw the good in everyone and everything while being one of the greatest supporters of his children and grandchildren. He saw Jesus in everyone and never met a stranger. Anward loved playing golf, and spending quality time with his group of buddies at the Eunice Country Club. Nothing was more important to Anward than having family gatherings, especially on Good Friday and during the holidays.

 Anward is survived by his wife of 55 years, Priscilla Fontenot Mayeaux; two sisters, Floretta Broussard and Cheryl Richard and husband, Ricky; two daughters, Tammy Mayeaux McCann and husband, Brian McCann, and Jill Mayeaux Martina and husband, Eddie Martina III; two sons, Anward Mayeaux III, and Ryan Mayeaux and wife, Katie Joubert Mayeaux; twelve grandchildren, Gabrielle Mayeaux, Bayleigh Mayeaux, Jacob Whitehead, Katelyn Whitehead, Eddie Martina IV, Mason Mayeaux, Madelyn Whitehead, Katherine Martina, Mary Grace Mayeaux, John Ryan Mayeaux, Reighn Mayeaux, and Jack Mayeaux; great grandchild, Kehlani Lawrence; as well as extended family and friends.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, Berdine and Anward Mayeaux Sr.; brother, Todd Mayeaux; brother-in-law, Wallace “Gator” Broussard; and grandchild, Ethan Adkins.

 Family request visitation be observed Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 11:00 am until 8:00pm at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice, LA. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30pm by Deacon Chuck Ortego. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 8:00 am until time of services. Father Hampton Davis, Celebrant, and Father Tom Voorhies and Father Blaine Clement, Concelebrant, will be officiating the Mass. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Paul Cemetery.
