EUNICEIt is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Antoine Herbert Stelly announces his passing on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice at the age of 78. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Cedric Sonnier Celebrant.
In his early years Herbert worked on Dredges and later became a Dredge Boat Captain for C.F. Bean. In 1966 he moved to Eunice and was employed at Eunice Poultry as a salesman and later on became a businessman with interest in several restaurants and L.A.S. Fire and Safety. He was formerly very active in his community including The Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Eunice High Booster Club as well at the Lions Club Camp in Leesville. He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling but what he loved and lived for was spending time with his loving family including his loving wife of 55 years, Melba Dugas Stelly of Eunice his son, Wayne Stelly and wife, Michele of Eunice his daughter, Nona Stelly Hebert and husband, Kirk of Eunice three sisters, Marie Sanders of Houston, Shirley Savoie and husband, Herman of Arnaudville and Audrey Angelle and husband, Jim of Houston He was blessed with five grandchildren, Adrienne Huston, Meredith Disher, Erika Carlson, Alisha Jarreau, and Christopher Stelly and further blessed with nine great grandchildren, Andre Hebert, Blake Fontenot, Morgan Disher, Gabrielle and Matthew Huston, Madison and Phillip Carlson, Abby and Ethan Jarreau.
Now he rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Clayton and Bernice Lalonde Stelly three brothers, Leon, J.C. and John Allen Stelly.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, December 21st from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Wednesday, December 22nd from 8:00 am until time of services. Catholic Daughters will recite and Rosary at 2:00 pm Tuesday evening and Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening.
