Kurt Bertrand

 Basile- Kurt Bertrand, aged 62, passed away on Monday, October 02, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 05, 2023, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Following the service, Kurt will be laid to rest in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father Keenen Brown as the Celebrant.

Kurt Bertrand was born on March 29, 1961, to Adam and Ethel Doga Bertrand, both of whom preceded him in death. He served his country in the United States Airforce and took great pride in his service. Kurt had a passion for fishing, camping, Mardi Gras celebrations, and listening to music- especially when it was his son Nick playing the accordion. He also loved coaching Nick and was a devoted fan of the LSU Tigers. He was a great story- teller, comedian and The Family Historian. Kurt will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his wife of forty-one years, Angela Y. Bertrand of Basile, his son Nick Bertrand and wife Bailey of Iota, and his grandsons Camden and Conley Bertrand who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his siblings: Dolores Richard and husband Ronnie of Baton Rouge, Keith Bertrand and wife Virginia of Lafayette, and Debbie Bruchhaus and husband Charles of Elton; as well as extended family members and many dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

In addition to his parents, Kurt was preceded in death by his sister Roussella Doise and nephew Ryan Richard.

Visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile on Wednesday, October 4th from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Thursday, October 5th from 8:00 am until the time of the services. A Rosary will be recited by the Catholic Daughters at 6:30 pm on Wednesday.
