EUNICEIt is with great sadness that the family of Amilca Frederick Fontenot also known as Coach announces his passing on Sunday, December 30, 2012 in the comfort of his home. He was 80. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice. Interment will follow in the Ortego Cemetery with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
Coach served his country honorably in the United States Airforce where he was a instructor and played baseball for the Airforce. He had a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northwestern State University and a Masters Degree from Louisiana State University, played minor league baseball for Los Angeles Dodgers, retired teacher and coached high school baseball and football at East Ascension High School and he also coached American Legion baseball. From 1979 till present a business owner of Brittany Enterprise. Coach was an avid duck hunter and sportsman.
Coach will be missed dearly by his beloved wife, Brenda G. Fontenot of West Monroe two children, Steven Fontenot of Miami, Fl. And Deborah Blackwell and husband, Claude Jr. of Gonzales three step children, Waymond Hales of Rayville, Cindy Russell and Tabitha Hales both of West Monroe two brothers, A.J. Fontenot and wife, Mary of Midland, TX and Lawrence Fontenot and wife, Kathy of Eunice one sister, Clarine Thibodeaux and husband, Albert of Iota three grandchildren, Claude
Tripp Blackwell III, Jamie Blackwell and Mitchell Fontenot four step grandchildren, Zach Hales, Mariah Elise Hales, Brittney Poole and Nicholas Russell and three great grandchildren, Morgan Blackwell, Kohan Poole and Jaylyn Poole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence C. and Rosa Belle Fontenot and two brothers, Roland Paul Fontenot and Clarence Luther Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, January 2nd from 9:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 11:00 am Wednesday.
