BASILE-The family of A. B. Thompson, 79, invites friends and neighbors to a celebration of his life on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 3:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Basile, LA. He will be laid to rest in the Protestant Cemetery. A.B. was a fun loving and gentle man that lived a life as a servant of Jesus. He never met a stranger and handled the storms of life with grace. His love for God, family, friends, and music was always present and visible in his smile. The essence of this great man cant truly be expressed with words. He and Neva settled in Basile a number of years ago and have grown to love the people and traditions of their new community and church. He serve as a Deacon of his church and was also a veteran in the United States Army serving with the 11th Airborne. He is survived by his wife, Neva, and their five children, Deborah and husband Bill, Tony and wife, Debra of Ponchatoula, Jeff and wife, Jan of DesAllemends, Steve and wife, Susan of Basile, and Marcus of San Francisco; a daughter Deborah Biewer and husband, Bill of Plano TX; a sister, Vivian Ward of Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren, Jason, Leigh, Austin, Brittany, Wendi, Jimmy, Christopher, Billy, Amy, Laura, Kyle; five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Zoe, Noah, Grace, Cayden; numerous nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers family request that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Basile Youth GroupFund, P.O. Box 336, Basile, LA 70515.
Visitation will begin on Friday, November 17, 2006, at the First Baptist Church from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, November 18, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services with Brother Rod Martin officiating.
