IOTAA wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend, Alice M. Simar will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Alice passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at High Hope Care Center in Sulphur. She was 95. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota. Entombment will follow in the St. Joseph Mausoleum with Father Mikel Polson Celebrant.

Alice was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a very kind and loving woman and spending time with her family and friends brought a great deal of joy to her life. She had a special love for flowers, quilting, baking, gardening and playing cards. She was very much loved by her three daughters, Maxine Frey and husband, Robert of Mowata, Judith Leger of Iota, and Margaret Dillard and husband, Rick of Weimar, TX her three sisters, Irene Hebert and Evelyn Miller both of Jennings and Shirley Abshire of Crowley. She will be missed dearly by her ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

Alice now rests in Heaven with her beloved husband, Maxime Simar Jr. and her parents, Simon and Louise Leger Miller.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Iota on Thursday, May 19th from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Friday, May 20th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm Thursday evening.
