BASILE-Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 08, 2006, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile, for Mrs. Alice Reed Marcantel, 77, who died Monday, November 06, 2006, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou.

Interment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum in Basile with Father Ken Dominique officiating.

Mrs. Marcantel was a native of Ville Platte and a resident of Basile. A graduate Of Sacred Heart High School in Ville Platte and Southwest Louisiana Institute of Lafayette. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, Ladies Auxillary, C.C.D. teacher, also did art work and made banners for the church.

Survivors include her children, Susan M. Ardoin and husband, Don of Mamou, Conrad Dale Marcantel Jr. of Basile, Julie M. Conde and husband, Frank of Carencro, Wade Anthony Marcantel of Basile; three brothers, Hampton Reed, James Reed, of Ville Platte, Clinton Reed of Duncan, OK; one sister, Margaret Fontenot of Ville Platte; five grandchildren, Kerrie Johnson and husband, Tim, Lindsay Castille and husband, Clay, William Holmes, Jenna Conde, Alex Conde; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Elizabeth Johnson and Allie Claire Castille.

Her husband, Conrad Marcantel, Sr. and her parents, Wade and Elta Guillory Reed, Sr, preceded her in death.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, November 07, 2006, from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, November 08, 2006, from 7:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
